A lighter, smaller and safer battery for the Hi-Speed USB2 scanning back systems ("HS" models) is a lithium-polymer battery that weighs 17.5 ounces and will operate a USB2 system for over six hours. It is similar in size to our USB2 control box, about 7.1 x 4.3 x 0.8 inches. This battery includes a modified power cable from Better Light to operate a USB2 scanning back (not suitable for use with our older SCSI systems).

Lithium polymer is a non-flammable, more stable, gel base compared to liquid-based lithium-ion batteries. This battery is NOT automatically recharged by the control box, but instead must be recharged via its own AC-powered recharger (like a laptop power supply), which is included in the price. This battery connects to the PWR connector on the control box (same connector that the AC power supply normally uses).

The standard battery for our Hi-Speed USB2 scanning back systems ("HS" models) remains a sealed lead-acid battery that weighs four pounds and will operate a USB2 system for over four hours This battery is automatically recharged by the control box whenever the box is connected to external (AC) power. This battery connects to the BATT connector on the control box. This standard "connect and forget" lead-acid battery may still be the best choice for short-haul location work.

For the SCSI control boxes, a larger lead-acid battery that weighs six pounds will operate the SCSI systems for over 4 hours. 

Price: US $225.
